Biruni University has been raising future Birunians who will contribute to production in line with the needs of our country by carrying out research and development projects with an understanding of science worthy of Biruni, from which it took its name since the day it was founded.
Innovative University
Biruni University, which raises qualified individuals with the differences it adds to education and produces original knowledge at national and international level, makes a difference as an innovative and leading university that contributes to the solution of social problems. The faculty members and students of our university continue to sign original projects in every field in which they carry out their educational activities. Within the scope of the "2209-A Fame Students Research Projects Support Program" conducted by TÜBİTAK Scientist Support Programs Directorate this year, our faculty members and students made us feel great pride within the scope of the 2021/1 period.
We are in the Top 4 with our success
50 projects prepared by Biruni University students and advisors were entitled to receive support from TÜBİTAK. Our projects ranked 4th among all universities in Turkey, 2nd among universities in Istanbul and 1st among foundation universities in Turkey.
Projects Continue
At the same time, according to the evaluation results of the 2nd semester of TÜBİTAK 2209-A University Students Research Projects Support Program 2021, the projects of our students were entitled to receive support.
They Represented Our Country Abroad
This year, many of our academics represented our country all over the world. For example, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İlke Küpeli, Faculty of Medicine, made both our country and our university proud as the only Anesthesiologist invited from Turkey to the seminar named "Salzburg CHOP Seminar in Pediatric Anesthesia and Critical Care" attended by 35 countries. Our faculty member made a presentation on "How should we give safe anesthesia in a newborn 2-day-old baby with congenital heart disease and anal atresia?"
International Publications
Our university, which is frequently mentioned with its studies, has carried out studies that have made an echo in the international scientific world. For instance, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cüneyt Koçaş, Lecturer in the Department of Cardiology and Cardiology Specialist of our Hospital, has been accepted in the Journal of American College of Cardiology-Interventions, the most respected interventional cardiology journal in the world, on "Comparison of Radial (wrist entry) and Femoral (groin entry) Procedure Results in CTO (Fully occluded Heart Vessel) Interventions.
Awards Rained Down on our Students
In the FarmaFikir 5 Innovation and Idea Competition, where the students of the Faculty of Pharmacy competed individually and as a team, our Faculty of Pharmacy student Betül Demir and her group mates were deemed worthy of an honorable mention award with the KADE project. Muammer Alhan Babat, a 4th year student of the Faculty of Dentistry, was elected as the chairman of the Central Commission of the Student Branch of the Turkish Dental Association, which includes 88 faculties of dentistry.
