Remarkable artists Ekrem and Ece Ataer, donated their body as a cadaver to our Faculty of Medicine

The writer couple, Ece Ataer and her husband Ekrem Ataer in examplary action donated their bodies as cadavers to our University’s Department of Anatomy for medical education. In order to make body donation as cadavers a communal act, this couple made the donation in a formal opening in the university on October 5, 2020.

The cadaver quantity in our country is extremely less.

Ataer couple pointed out that cadaver donation is as importance as organ donation; “We entrust our bodies to students who will save lives in the future. We made this decision during a trip we took a few years ago. We visited the anatomy museum during our trip and we were very impressed by this museum. We observed that the cadavers donation is quite less
for medical education. We started to investigate the subject. We learned that in most universities, the quantity of cadavers per students is very low and the need is quite high. For this reason, as a couple, we decided to donate our own bodies to Biruni University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Anatomy. From now on, we will continue this action as a social responsibility project for new body donations. " they stated.
